Innovation and technology
After prohibition of ecologically dangerous plastic drinking straws usage, the question arose — what can replace it? What could fill the consumer gap with the volume of more than billion items around the world instead of plastic ones?
The market has tried to respond immediately. The products made of wheat, reed, rye, paper, avocado and other exotic or recycled materials have appeared. However, it soon became clear that eco drinking straws made of exotic and recycled materials will not meet the expectations.
After that biologically-degradable drinking straws have appeared on the market. At some point it seemed that issue is resolved, however, ecologists have intervened and proved that bioplastic is much more dangerous for the environment and therefore for people.
An issue of what can replace plastic drinking straws has been exacerbated. Eco-company “ATS-Agro” has took a different way. Our goal was to grow plans specially for cocktail drinking straws. Three years of searching for optimal planting material, technologies of its growing, recycling of eco-package have made a positive result. Company “ATS-Agro” announces that an issue of what can replace plastic cocktail drinking straws is resolved. A new cereal crop has been developed — a hybrid of wheat and rye instead of plastic.
FULL CYCLE OF PRODUCTION
From the field to the finished product
The company “ATS-Agro” in cooperation with German company which provided the initial planting material and ensured the control of growing, has selected and prepared the sown area and developed the plant growing map.
The sown areas are located on fertile Ukrainian chernozem in environmentally organic region and good infrastructure.
We provide a full production cycle — from growing raw materials to supplying finished products.

Initial preparation
Only healthy and undamaged plants are collected.
After that the plans are cleaned and cut to specific length.
At the final stage there is a sorting by diameter.
Processing and disinfection
The finished straws are first washed with water, then treated with steam at a temperature of 120°C and finally ozonized.
These procedures decontaminate the product and make it completely safe.
Packing and delivery
It is possible to pack each drinking tube individually (to meet the requirements for safety and disinfection), and in groups — in cardboard boxes of 500 or 1000 pcs.
Certified quality
ATS-Agro products meet all world phytosanitary and environmental requirements.
Also the system of production was developed which is based on energy efficiency and prevention of waste generation.

Short 12 cm straws are used for shallow cocktail glasses and coffee drinks.
